All patients are initially focused on pain. My goal as their chiropractor, is to have patients understand the reason for their pain and to realize that if a a person’s joint is kept in a normal position there will eventually be no pain.
Pain is experienced in a joint within the body. Trauma, overuse of the joint or repetitive use of the joint in an abnormal position would create the problem. The movement of the joint into an abnormal position can cause inflammation into the surrounding soft tissue.
Trauma to the spine can cause the joint to move out of a normal (anatomical) position. This abnormal movement can cause inflammation to the surrounding soft tissue and nerves.
As the chiropractor my job is to return the joint to a normal position, reduce pain and restore normal functioning of the joint complex. The patient is advised to maintain body movements that follow the normal spinal curvature as much as possible.
Each patient visit is about 30 minutes in length. The session consists of chiropractic evaluation of the following areas as needed: skull area, cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, sacrum, pelvis, shoulders, arms, hands, feet and ribs.
Chiropractic adjustments are completed with an Activator, which is a low-force adjusting instrument.
